New Delhi, 15th May, 2013: In furtherance of its commitment to promote sports among underprivileged youth of the country, Stairs has kick-started its football initiative under Uflex Khelo Dilli Program. Stairs is organizing a Football Tournament-‘Football for Change’ on 19th May, 2013 at the Mini Football Ground of the Yamuna Sports Complex in Madhu Vihar, New Delhi. Stairs has joined hands with BareFeet, for the first year of the initiative.

A total of eight teams across Delhi will be participating in ‘Football for Change’ Tournament. Peoples comprise of children playing regularly at 28 Uflex Stairs centres which have been established near the colonies where these children reside. Stairs regularly organizes various competitions at these centres to identify talent and provide training and sports scholarships to talented youth.

Uflex Khelo Dilli is a philanthropic endeavour jointly undertaken by Uflex Ltd., India’s largest flexible packaging company and Stairs. It was conceptualized in 2011 with the aim to provide free of cost – space, infrastructure and sports equipment to the less fortunate children of our society, to play. While encouraging children to play, Uflex Khelo Dilli identifies and acknowledges their hidden talents and provides a platform for exhibiting them. More than 5000 children across Delhi are regularly playing at Uflex Stairs centres.

The tournament will be unique as the stadium in which the matches will be played is enclosed form six sides. Usually, a football match is played out in the open, but here the six side enclosed stadium will prove to be a unique experience not just for the players but also the spectators.

The chief guest of the occasion Mr. Anil Choudhary, MLA, Patparganj Vidhan Sabha will do the honors by closing the tournament and announcing the winner and giving away the trophies and prize money. Mr. Anil Upadhyay, President, Stairs and Mr. Siddhartha Upadhyay, Founder and Secretary General, Stairs will also be present to cheer up Peoples and provide support.
