Who We Are

The Society for Transformation, Inclusion and Recognition through Sports (STAIRS) is a National Sports Promotion Organisation at the forefront of grassroots sports and youth development. Recognised with the Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar by the Hon’ble President of India for its efforts in identifying and nurturing young talent in the country, STAIRS has remained committed to empowering India's youth through the transformative power of sports since its establishment in 2000. Our core belief is centred on ensuring that every child has the opportunity to play, learn, and thrive. By integrating sports with education, health, and skill development programs, our goal is to unleash the boundless potential of children across India.

Our Approach

STAIRS operates under the belief that sports are a powerful tool for social empowerment and character building. Our programs, including training camps, tournaments, and championships, offer a robust platform for children and youth to hone their skills, exhibit their talents, and gain recognition at national and international levels. We pride ourselves on identifying and nurturing potential talents, providing them with the opportunities to excel and bring laurels to the country.

Empowerment

As the largest organization dedicated to youth development through sports in India, STAIRS has made a significant impact:

Empowerment Through Sports: Over 25,000,000+ children engage in sports activities 'every day' at our 5000+ Training Centres spread across more than 50,000+ villages in 26 states, without any financial burden.

Holistic Development: We focus on achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through sports, ensuring that our programs contribute to the well-being, education, and empowerment of the youth.

National and International Recognition: Numerous STAIRS beneficiaries have reached national and international circuits, proudly representing and winning for the country.

Touching Lives: With over 25,000,000+ lives already positively impacted by our initiatives, STAIRS is on a mission to touch one billion lives by 2050, constantly expanding and increasing our reach.

Milestones

2023

One India One Goal (OIOG)/ Ek Bharat Ek Lakshya (EBEL) was launched in Delhi in the presence of the Hon’ble Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Km. Pratima Bhoumik as the Chief Guest.

The OIOG program was launched at the STAIRS National Sports Meet, culminating the year-long grassroots sports championships and witnessing the participation of 3000 Gold and Silver medalists and 250 coaches from over 200 districts and 11 states of India. The championship provided a platform to 20,000 players who participated with guidance from a team of 960 trainers in 6 games.

STAIRS was recognised as the National Sports Promotion Organization (NSPO) by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India

2019

STAIRS was recognised as the National Sports Promotion Organization (NSPO) by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, for promoting sports at the grassroots and community level.

2017

STAIRS Secretary General Siddhartha Upadhyay was inducted into the governing body of the Sports Authority of India.

STAIRS is on the Steering Committee under the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, BRICS U-17 Tournament and Mission XI Million Programme. STAIRS expertise in the development of sports at the grassroots is being utilised by the Government of India.

2016
Awarded “Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar” by the President of India.

PM Narendra Modi appreciated the project | Mentions STAIRS in his tweet.

Awarded Best NGO in Sports by FICCI.

Deutscher Football-Bund e.V. (German Football Association) conducts camps with STAIRS kids.

2015

Launches Stairs School Football League (SSFL), edition two. The programme became the world’s largest talent spotting and training programme in football.

Partners Hindustan Football Club.

Concludes Delhi’s Largest Grassroots Football Trial Camps.

2014

Launched ‘Hockey for Growth’ with the support of Dr Dilip Tirkey, Member Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and former captain of the Indian Hockey team.

Record: 2,000 villagers participated in Stairs Inter-state National Volleyball Cup.

Uflex-Stairs for Ability National Cricket Championship.

Launched STAIRS School Football League.

2013

Expanded reach in Uttar Pradesh – opened 4 new centres.

STAIRS children qualify for the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Team of differently-abled.

Begin ‘Interstate 20-20 Tri-Series for Differently-abled.

2012

Launched Khelo Sirsa (Haryana)

2011

Launched Khelo Dilli.

Organised Stairs Sombhadra Khel Mahotsav (Sombhadra Olympics)

2006

Reebok supports the launch of the Reebok-STAIRS Cricket Championship.

2005

Stairs is formally registered and starts in Sahibabad, U.P.
