GPG CERTIFICATE AND REPORT


Stairs held a Sepak Takraw Tournament in New Delhi on October 29, 2013 as part of the 2013 Global Peace Games For Children And Youth. The venue was Majnu Ka Tilla, Opposite Gurudwara, in New Delhi. The games started at 11 A.M. The local community leader, Mr Daya Chand, gave a welcomed the participants and guests. Mr Anil Upadhaya, President of Stairs and Mr Siddhartha Upadhyay, Founder and Secretary General of Stairs were present on the occasion. After the speech, the special messages from the United Nations Special Adviser on Sport for Development and Peace, Mr Wilfried Lemke, and Fifa President, Mr Joseph S Blatter, were read. Thereafter, the UN Manifesto pledge was taken by all the 30 participants and the Unesco Manifesto was signed by 58 signatories.

The games began after this. Ten teams of three members each participated in the games. The teams were:

Champion Club Majnu Ka Tilla,
Malaysia Club Majnu Ka Tilla,
M. T. Boys Club Majnu Ka Tilla,
Fighter Club Majnu Ka Tilla,
Lancer Road Boys, Timarpur,
Timarpur Boys Club,
Timarpur Rock Boys Club,
Ginius Boys Club, Timarpur
Parle Boys, Majnu Ka Tilla.
All the participants were served lunch and drinks during the course of the day.

The Champion Club of Majnu Ka Tilla, represented by Rishi Kumar, Manish Kumar and Rajeev, defeated M T Boys Club of Majnu Ka Tilla, represented by Rahul, Shive and Neeraj Kumar. The games ended with prize distribution by Mr Anil Upadhaya, President of Stairs. Besides the winners and runners-up trophies, the finalists were given individual mementoes. All participants were given certificates. As a part of the efforts of Stairs to encourage the girl child, an exhibition match between two teams of girls was also held. All the six girls were presented mementoes.
